Crunch
Lying on your back and lifting just your shoulders a little off the floor. Note: stomach exercises make the muscle stronger, but they don't burn belly fat on their own.

How to do it
- Lie on your back on a mat, knees bent, feet flat on the floor.
- Cross your arms over your chest, or rest your fingertips lightly by your ears — don't lace them behind your head.
- Tighten your stomach and lift your head and shoulders a few inches off the floor. Keep a fist's space between chin and chest.
- Pause for 1 second, then lower slowly.
Breathing: Breathe out as you lift, breathe in as you lower.
How much to start with: 2–3 sets × 10–15 reps
❌ Common mistakes
- Pulling on your neck with your hands.
- Sitting all the way up (a sit-up) — lifting your shoulders a little is enough.
- Bouncing up and down.
⚠️ Safety
- If your neck hurts, keep your arms on your chest and lift less.
- If you are pregnant or have recently given birth, check with your doctor first.
